Wellness Visit

A new benefit of the Affordable Care Act is Annual Wellness Visits (AWV).  Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans began covering these visits in January of 2011. This visit is eligible with a primary care provider, once every 12 (twelve) months after the first year of Medicare or Medicare Advantage Plan coverage.  There are no deductibles, co-insurance or co-payments.

The visit with you primary care provider, will review your medical history, providing a health risk assessment, evaluating your physical condition, and provide a screening for cognitive impairment, including depression. A personalized prevention plan will be developed by your doctor to help you manage your health, and to focus on preventive services and screenings you may need over the next 5(five) to 10(ten) years. These can be scheduled with your annual wellness visits for your overall health.
